Trifles: A play in One Act
The passage that I had a strong reaction to: "But I tell you what I do wish, Mrs.Peters. I wish I had come over sometimes when she was here." My reaction to this passage is that these women are sometimes in favor of the lady but critique her sometimes. I feel that this symbolize womens relationships sometimes. I felt that this showed that women will stick up for one another in certain situations even when there is lack of communication. I feel that this relate to the text as a whole because the guilt that the ladies feel for not being a better friend cause them to cover up the possibility of Mrs. Wright killing her husband.
The Revolt of Mother
The passage that I reacted most to was "You're lodgin your dumb beasts, better than you are your own flesh an' blood. I want to know if you think its right." I feel that she feels that her husband refuses to give her a better home to live in. She feels as though he treats the cows better than his own family. My opinion is that her husband is wrong and greedy for putting his family's needs last. The passage function as a whole with the story because it marks the beginning of the revolt against her husband. The revolt continues throughout the story. She is different from the traditional housewives in those days the story was written in the way she does not keep her mouth closed.
As Children Together
What I was most drawn to was the quote "Take any man's face to her unfastened blouse and wake to wine on the bedside table. My reaction to this is that the girl seems loose and easy. It seems that this woman is very sexual. This passage function in the whole poem is that this describes the woman. To me this is apart of the description of how Victoria is.
